I bought this drive after research models. My house is quite rural, and we lose power a half-dozen times a year. Approximately 2 of these breaks more than a day, so clearly this will not help in this, as I have located about a dozen deep cycle batteries.
This model has a lift capacity incredible, and I bought this model because I am one that could be undertaken and managed my fridge was out of a battery, so I lost a few hundred dollars on food every time thePower goes. The manual indicates that this model can 2x rated power (1600 W in this case) for a total of 10 seconds. This is incredible, unheard of in an inverter that price. If you download the manuals for most of the state, can provide them 2x rated power, but only 0.1 seconds. 0.1 seconds? This is unhelpful, and does not start any motor vehicle. I can confirm that this device is easy to start and manage my two refrigerators without difficulty. Obviously, the peak capacity iswith reduced battery performance, and will not surge 2x, if the battery is weak. Also, I recommended the book "Just try it" if you do not know if the inverter can handle the load impressed. This shows that the confidence of its design, and gives me confidence, too.
Just today I have this inverter with a battery trolling motor for my boat. I was able to watch TV and operating a lamp with a CFL bulb for about 5 hours until the power is back on.That includes my 57 "CRT Projection TV, amplifier and 700W point directive. My Kill-A-Watt EZ that it takes about 350W idle. And 'from this drive for 5 hours with no problems and only hot to the touch. The benefit is cleaner than my generator borrowed, the TV picture was rock, no artifacts due to the ending.
Precautions
1) If the battery is discharged, is reduced to peak capacity. There was still an hour left of the TV, but will not startrefrigerator.
2) The power is not clean enough to meet the APC UPS on my TiVo. Ran the battery on the UPS, because he was convinced that my strength was dirty. Passage to power the drive directly to solve the problem.
3) This device draws a lot of electricity when running. Tonight one of the dice in place of the battery has been resolved, and the drive is always off. Once I recognized the problem, aggravated the mother, and I was all right. The mother could not lose the necessary currentRun the inverter. Mess with the battery terminals, and is a great spark, pretty clear, if your power. ;-)
